The Dalai Lama was asked what surprised him most

From my friend Andrea Smart’s Facebook page.

I just had to share this!

The Dalai Lama was asked what surprised him most, he said “Man.
Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”

That is magic!

Bigger, Brighter, Bolder

This article is By Brian P Lewis and appears at EzineArticles.com

Its a perspective on teaching that occurred to me in the opposite way:
when I teach I learn.

It is the change in position and perspective  from which you listen, see, smell, taste, touch and discuss with yourself.

  • For starters the words flow out from you to external listeners and not inside to yourself.
  • Your tonality is probably different and you need to emphasise differently so that you talk into someone else’s listening.
  • Your body posture is active or different when you talk externally and your awareness is on both internal and external elements – Visual, Auditory, Kinaesthetic, Olfactory and even Gustatory

All in in all your senses are more actively engaged and the reality you experience is that much bigger. Therefore the experience richer!

As I have heard so many times, from Paul McKenna and many others in the NLP fraternity:  “Bigger, Brighter, Bolder”

Have a Big, Bright and Bold day and see, hear, smell, taste and touch what you learn, because you did

Second Chance

"I decided to give him a second chance, but the second chance didn't work"

I expect that the voting public understand that implicitly since most PMs seem to stay longer than one term

The Time of Your Life

    From Vicki Wusche’s Facebook page

    An old man once said:
"There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living."
    ~ Re-post if you agree

These little gems always come when we need them. Notice that is true.

At the recent National Achievers' Congress, in London, Anthony Robbins talked about how he distanced himself from negativity and negative people.
So, I guess, what he is alluding to is wisdom.

Wisdom comes with experience: “falling down”
Experience comes with age: “the time in your life”

For me the objective has to be:

How soon can we get wise?

Old beat up car

From freejokesblog.blogspot.com

A woman was driving her old beat up car on the highway with her 7-year old son, Little Johnny.

She tried to keep up with traffic but they were flying by her.
After getting caught in a large group of car’s flying down the road she looked at her speedometer to see she is doing 15 miles over the speed limit.

Slowing down she moved over to the side and got out of the line of cars.
She looked up and saw the flashing lights of a police car.

Pulling over she waited for the officer to come up to her car. As he did he said, “Ma’am do you know why I pulled you over?”

Little Johnny piped up from the back seat, “I do! — Because you couldn’t catch the other cars”

Being Amazed

CaptureLife is just amazing! Out of the grey clouds comes the bluest brightest sky I've ever seen, and there are only songs in my heart right now
Come and celebrate life!

~ Billy Yan Pound

It is not how we feel it is how we BE that creates how we feel.
Anthony Robbins tell how motion drives our eMOTION and Landmark Education tell how satisfACTION requires action

BEing in action (motion) , like my friend Billy Yan Pound, creates the emotion that he enjoys and redistributes to the world.

Be out there and enjoy!

A Hypnotic Parking Dilemma?

I was asked a question in Quora the other day – I know not why:

Why do people park right next to other cars in a parking lot when there are many other open spots available? Is it pure laziness, disrespect for proximity, a desire to be near other people, or something else?

I answered

Because their conscious thinking is limited at the time, which means their ability to respond is limited and therefore they are irrespons-Able

and then I was asked to elaborate, which I duly did.

This was a good conversation point and helped me to think through another aspect of understanding others:

  • The conscious mind can only process between 5 and 9 things before confusion or stress sets in. At that stage people can go into auto pilot and stop thinking
  • All skills are unconsciousness.

  • In an unconscious state measures can distort or even disappear:
    e.g. time disappears
    e.g. functionality is impaired

  • When people are parking at supermarkets their thinking is not on parking, they are usually future pacing what they need to do in the shop and possible what they need to do after
They are not functioning in the present, they are already functioning mentally in the future.

  • Whilst this is going on they may also be dealing with the kids, whilst dealing with x, whilst dealing with y, whilst dealing with z
    - the 5-9 conscious slots fill up and thinking becomes impaired and unconscious states can kick in.

  • Parking in this context becomes an unconscious (non thinking ) activity and so the unconscious herding (Survival/Safe) instinct may kick in.
So they unthinkingly park with the other cars even if there is loads of space elsewhere

  • So this scenario isn’t just about parking. It can relate to any scenario where someone is not present to what they are doing because they conscious slots available to them have been filled up

Why is this useful?

Because when someone is not functioning consciously they enter an altered state, usually trance. A state when it is easier to make suggestions into their unconscious and in my line of business those would be beneficial suggestions to a client …

How To Get Out Of Your Next Speeding Ticket...

A police officer pulls a guy over for speeding and has the following exchange:

Officer: May I see your driver's license?
Driver: I don't have one. I had it suspended when I got my 5th DUI.

Officer: May I see the owner's card for this vehicle?
Driver: It's not my car. I stole it.

Officer: The car is stolen?

Driver: That's right. But come to think of it, I think I saw the owner's card in the glove box when I was putting my gun in there.

Officer: There's a gun in the glove box?
Driver: Yes sir. That's where I put it after I shot the woman who owns this car and stuffed her in the trunk.

Officer: There's a BODY in the TRUNK?!?!?

Driver: Yes, sir.

Hearing this, the officer immediately called his captain. The car was quickly surrounded by police and the captain approached the driver to handle the tense situation:

Captain: Sir, can I see your license?

Driver: Sure. Here it is.

It was valid.
Captain: Who's car is this?

Driver: It's mine, officer. Here's the registration.
Captain: Could you slowly open your glove box so I can see if there's a gun in it?

Driver: Yes, sir, but there's no gun in it.

Sure enough, there was nothing in the glove box.

Captain: Would you mind opening your trunk? I was told you said there's a body in it.
Driver: No problem.
Trunk is opened; no body.

Captain: I don't understand it. The officer who stopped you said you told him you didn't have a license, stole the car, had a gun in the glove-box, and that there was a body in the trunk.
Driver: Yeah, and I'll bet he told you I was speeding too!

"Screw it Just Do it"

~ Richard Branson
4th July, 2011

I had the privilege on Monday 4th July of hearing Richard Branson speak at the National Achievers' Congress, in London.

The last question from the floor was “What one thing would you advise people who are starting out in Business?”

He Means Business

FREE JOKES BLOG: He means business!:

A company, feeling it was time for a shake-up, hires a new CEO.
This new boss is determined to rid the company of all slackers.

Exasperated BusinessmanOn a tour of the facilities, the CEO notices a guy leaning on a wall.
The room is full of workers and he thinks this is his chance to show everyone he means business!

The CEO, walks up the guy and asks “and how much money do you make a week?”
Undaunted, the young fellow looks at him and replies “I make $200.00 a week. Why?”
The CEO then hands the guy $200 in cash and screams “here's a week's pay, now GET OUT and don't come back!”

Feeling pretty good about his first firing, the CEO looks around the room and asks “does anyone want to tell me what that slacker did here?”

With a sheepish grin, one of the other workers mutters “Pizza delivery guy”
